The Song of Solomon 5:1-2 ESV
1 I came to my garden, my sister, my bride,I gathered my myrrh with my spice,I ate my honeycomb with my honey,I drank my wine with my milk.Eat, friends, drink,and be drunk with love! 2 I slept, but my heart was awake.A sound! I.LEAD LIKE A MAN
A.God intends men lead in all areas of a home, including the bedroom.
B.Taking the lead sexually means taking the lead relationally as well.
II.I WANT YOU TO WANT ME (4:16)
A.A man wants his wife to want him not just be willing to be with him.
B.Women are insecure about their bodies. Men are insecure about their egos.
C.Male enjoyment of sex is impacted by how much enjoyment they bring their wife.
III.MORE THAN A DUTY TO YOUR HUSBAND (5:1)
A.Because the church has made sex dirty, many women feel guilty enjoying it, even after marriage.
B.To deny yourself fully enjoying the pleasure of God’s good gift of sex is to deny God the full pleasure of seeing you enjoy Him.
IV.SEX AND THE GOSPEL
A.Biblical marital sex is about one person receiving joy through the giving up of the body of another. (1 Corinthians 7:2-5)
B.Biblical marital sex is about mutual service to one another so that we both increase in our joy.
C.Biblical marital sex is not fueled by the loveliness of our spouse but the desire to see them experience good and for God to be glorified.
D.Biblical marital sex is about the Gospel because it is missional.
