2/4/16 – Having A No Condemnation Marriage

Romans 8:1 ESV

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

I. REAL TALK ABOUT RELATIONSHIPS
A. No relationship can survive the inability of one person to move on from old wrongs.
B. We are broken and as a result sin and hurt one another.
C. Until we admit that we are the problem there is no hope of things getting better.
D. Self-righteousness is killing your marriage as much as your partner’s sin.

II. PUTTTING THE PAST OUT TO PASTURE
A. We have all wounded and wronged God and one another.
B. When we bring up the old stuff we are not living the Gospel we say we believe. (Romans 8:1)

III. NO MEANS NO
A. In a No Condemnation Relationship…
B. Forgiving does not mean forgetting. It means knowing the past but refusing to dwell in it.
C. The goal is for the one who has sinned to forget the past not the one sinned against.
D. We put the past behind us and pursue a future together.
E. We don’t look like punks or suckers. We seek to look like Jesus.

NEXT STEPS:
1. Repent of self-righteousness.
2. Make your marriage about the Gospel and glory of God. (Ephesians 5:22-33)
3. Commit to a No Condemnation, “PV16” Marriage.
