10/27/19 – Commandments VI – Holy Hands, Hideous Hearts

Exodus 20:13-14 ESV
”You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery.”

I. MURDER IS NEVER MORAL
A. The sixth commandment forbids the unlawful taking of life.
B. The sixth commandment does not prohibit taking a life when the goal of taking a life is preserving an innocent life.

II. GOING DEEPER ON THE 6TH COMMANDMENT
A. The sixth commandment demands we value all life equally because all life is equal.
B. Jesus extends application of the sixth commandment from our hands to our hearts, and even possible to what we behold. (Matthew 5:21-22)

III. LICENSE TO LOVE, NOT LUST
A. Sex is good and is the glue of marriage.
B. Sex is spiritual, not just sensual. (Ephesians 5:32)

IV. GOING DEEPER ON THE 7TH COMMANDMENT
A. Lust and being loose may be lesser in some ways, but it leaves us just as liable before God. (Matthew 5:27-28, 19:3-10, 1 Corinthians 6:12-13)
