1 Corinthians 3:21 – 4:1
21So let no one boast in men. For all things are yours, 22whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future—all are yours, 23and you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.1This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.
I. THE INSANITY OF WORSHIPING MEN (20, 4:1)
A. Preachers are servants of the church making them beneath you.
B. Worship the Savior, not your servants.
C. Preachers are no better than you. (Romans 8:17)
II. THE MAGNITUDE OF OUR INHERITANCE (21-22)
A. All things belong to you in Christ because all things belong to Him, which He shares with us.
B. To claim our inheritance in Christ requires humble submission.
III. THE STUNNING SUBORDNINATION OF CHRIST (23)
A. Jesus, as the equal of the Father and Spirit, voluntarily chose to subordinate Himself to them. (Philippians 2:3-11)
B. Security in identity and equality makes joyful submission possible.
C. To belong to Jesus the same way Jesus belongs to God requires that we submit ourselves to His authority.
D. Before I receive what God has for me in the present & future I must admit that God is right about my past.
