Galatians 3:27-29 ESV
27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise.
I.THE BLESSINGS OF ADOPTION (27-29, 6-7)
A.We share equally in the blessings of adoption because we are fully equal in the family of God.
B.In adoption, we get a new last name (identity).
C.In adoption, we get a new wardrobe.
D.In adoption, we gain new brothers and sisters.
E.In our adoption, we gain a new Father.
F.In our adoption, we gain access to an inheritance.
G.In our adoption, we get an eternal home.
II.GOD’S GOOD PURPOSE IN ADOPTION
A.God adopts us so that we can share in the perfect love that flows between the members of the Trinity.
B.The sharing of love and not pity must be the intent of Christians as we adopt as well.
III.CHURCH AND MISSIONAL ENGAGEMENT IN ADOPTION
A.Adoption is the Gospel. The Gospel is adoption.
B.Adoption is spiritual warfare.
C.Adoption is our Christian duty.
D.Adoption is more about culture than compulsion.
